I Believe in Jesus Christ, God's Only Son

May 8, 2019    Pastor Kenneth C. Curry, Jr.    Belief, The Apostle's Creed

“16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16)

“9 Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, 10 so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” (Philippians 2:9-11)

“20 But as he considered these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not fear to take Mary as your wife, for that which is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit.” (Matthew 1:20)

“35 And the angel answered her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore the child to be born will be called holy—the Son of God.” (Luke 1:35)

The Doctrinal Importance of the Virgin Birth is seen in at least three areas:

1. Salvation comes from God
2. The Virgin Birth makes Christ Fully God and Fully Human
3. The Virgin Birth makes Christ the Sinless Sacrificial Lamb

Here are three simple statements about the Virgin Birth of Christ:

1. Clearly Taught in the Bible
2. It has been Universally Believed
3. It has been Hotly Debated
