As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.
Proverbs 27:17
In a world that is constantly becoming more difficult to be a Christian for Millennials and Gen Z, it is more important than ever to surround ourselves with likeminded people. FOCUS Young Adult Ministry offers people ages18-35 to grow as Christians and have community with others who are trying to live by the same standard. Come be a part of a growing ministry and make a difference in the world.
Jala's Focus
Jala Ashan Abner is a twenty-five-year-old California native who enjoys traveling, reading,
gardening, and exercising. After graduating from Spelman College, she lived in Chicago for two
years and worked in the public sector; in 2022, Jala returned to California to pursue her Master
of Public Policy at UCLA. Struggling to find a church home during the COVID-19 Pandemic, she
was ecstatic to attend Friendship Baptist Church with her mother and eventually joined in 2024!

Ministry at Crittenton Services for Children & Families
One of our ongoing outreach ministries is to the young women at the Crittenton residential treatment center. The goal of the Crittenton Services for Children and Families Community Engagement Office is to provide both our clients and volunteers opportunities to build positive experiences with one another, and help our agency create a lasting bond with our local community.
As a volunteer, you help provide advocacy, emotional support, and a variety of enrichment opportunities for the children and youth in our care. By volunteering you not only provide a lifeline to children and families’ experiencing crisis, but it also serves as a helpful foundation to increase your knowledge and understanding of Crittenton’s mission and values.
