PASTOR'S UPDATE JANUARY 3, 2024

Hello, Friendship Family!

We greet you  in the GREAT name of Jesus this first week of 2025! God, by his GRACE, has allowed us to see a NEW year and see a NEW SEASON! AMEN! We wanted to quickly update and remind you of a few things at the start of this year.

Let's look at the upcoming announcements:
FAMILY PRAYER/PRAYER MINISTRY UPDATE - January 3, 2025
Today is the day we typically gather for prayer in the evening (the Friday before the First Sunday of the Month). Since we realize many are still traveling and on vacation, we invite you to participate in Family Prayer from wherever you are. Please pray for our families, church, and community as we begin 2025. This month's prayer focus is  Embracing the Promise of God’s Glory.
COMMUNION SUNDAY
This Sunday, January 5th, we’ll celebrate communion together. If you will worship from home, check out the in-home communion instructions so you can observe communion virtually HERE.
YOUTH NEW YEAR'S PARTY
Calling all youth 6th-12th Grade! Sunday, January 5th @ 11:30 am in the Carrington Building Basement. Let's get together and celebrate the new  year and plan and pray for what's ahead.  We are planning a fun time of games, music, food and prizes. Feel free to bring your friends!
21-DAY FAST
Please note that our time of prayer and fasting for 2024 begins Monday, January 6th, and goes through Monday, January 27th. This is a 21-Day Fast of your choosing where you decide what type of fast you will do through prayer and commitment. If your health and doctor allow, you can join us as a worship community in the Daniel's Fast. The background of the Daniel Fast is found in Daniel chapter one, in which he and his three friends were deported to Babylon when King Nebuchadnezzar conquered Judah (Kings 24:13-14). Rather than eat the king's choice food and wine, Daniel suggested that he and his friends be allowed to only eat vegetables and water. Therefore, a Daniel's fast involves eating only fruits and vegetables for a determined time and abstaining from meat products. Nowhere does the Bible command believers to observe a Daniel fast. It is a matter of Christian freedom to observe a Daniel fast. You may, however, also choose a soul fast. A soul fast typically involves abstaining from certain physical and/or emotional indulgences. This could range from abstaining from specific foods or activities (like social media or entertainment) to focused introspection and prayer. Ultimately, you must govern your fast to grow closer to God.  There is a FASTING GUIDE HERE that defines the various types of fasts. Additionally, to aid us in our 21-Day Fast, we have produced 21-Day Devotional that is available HERE , and physical copies will be available Sunday, January 5th. As with previous years, we will have a daily prayer line available. So, we invite you to join us each day for prayer at 12 noon beginning Monday, January 6th via our regular prayer line on Google Meet HERE
